The incident took place on Tuesday, April 16, on Wenliss Terrace, when an existing water main was broken due to unknown existing water main pipe location, village officials said.
The village’s contractor Argenio Bros Inc. and the village water department repaired the pipe by 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, but testing is still required to ensure the safety of the water, officials said.
During the replacement, disinfectant was used at the re-connection. And after the re-connection was made, additional disinfection was used throughout the entire water system, village-wide, village officials said.
The testing will take at least 24 hours, officials said. Once the results are received the water department will determine if the water is safe and the notice can be lifted sometime on Thursday, April 18.
During the "boil water" alert residents should use bottled water or bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute and cool before using. They also suggest using bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food, etc.
A subsequent notice will be provided when the current issue is fully resolved.
